We are smoothie fanatics in our house, so when Breville's new 3X Bluicer™ Pro came on the market, I knew we were going to love it! The fact that I can now make smoothies AND juice AND make frozen drinks (hello margarita nights!) in this one machine had me sold instantly. Space efficient, I dig that! Then all the little extras that I didn't know I wanted until I used them were all there  - like the pouring spout from the jug, and how easy it is to clean...even when using intense ingredients like fresh turmeric and beetroot. I've created six all naturally coloured, drinks using my new machine. You've heard of "eat the rainbow", now you can drink it!

RED | MY PRE-WORKOUT JUICE
This juice is a perfect energy booster while giving you lots of vitamins and antioxidants at the same time. It is great as a pre-workout drink. Beetroot is said to increase energy levels, carrot juice to boost metabolism, raspberries are low in calories, apple juice can support hydration (and adds a little extra sweetness to this juice, you can leave out if you want to cut back the sugar intake) and ginger is said to be an anti-inflammatory and may reduce muscle pain. Using the 3X Bluicer™ Pro, juice all of the ingredients below on the 'hard' setting. Serves 1.

1x medium beetroot (if you have them, add the stems and leaves for extra nutrients)
2-3 carrots

1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries

1 red apple
1 knob of ginger

ORANGE | MY ANTI-INFLAMMATORY JUICE
Tumeric is said to have many incredible health benefits, and one of the most well-known is its power to be an anti-inflammatory. Turmeric is known to contain a chemical that may aid in pain relief, swelling and stiffness. If you can find fresh turmeric, that is an added bonus. Using the 3X Bluicer™ Pro, juice all of the ingredients listed below on the 'hard' setting. Serves 1.

3 carrots
1 apple
1 piece fresh turmeric (or 1 teaspoon dried turmeric)
1 knob of ginger
Juice of 1/2 lemon

YELLOW | MY WELLNESS SMOOTHIE

Bee pollen is a superfood said to be loaded with a balance of vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, enzymes and essential amino acids. It is also said that it has super high antioxidant properties similar to fermented foods. It may also be good for liver health and supporting the immune system. Blend all the ingredients below in the 3X Bluicer™ Pro on the smoothie setting. Serves 1.

1 ripe banana (or 1x large frozen courgette)
1/2 cup diced fresh or frozen mango
1 cup milk of your choice

1 tablespoon probiotic or protein yoghurt

1 tablespoon golden flaxseeds (or regular)
1 teaspoon bee pollen

1 teaspoon ground turmeric (optional)
1 teaspoon honey (optional)

GREEN | MY FEEL-GOOD JUICE

This is an all-round feel-good juice with ingredients said to detox the body, flush out toxins, boost energy levels and aid digestion! It is loaded with greens and I also added a little hemp oil in there too for some extra superfood goodness! Using the 3X Bluicer™ Pro, juice the apples, courgette and cucumber using the 'hard' setting, and then reduce speed down to the "soft" setting for the greens and mint. Serves 1.

2 large green apples
1 green courgette

1/2 cucumber (or make it 1x cucumber and 1x apple if wanting to reduce sugar intake)

A few big handfuls of greens like baby spinach, kale and/or flatleaf parsley

A few springs of fresh mint

1-2 teaspoons organic hemp oil
OPTIONAL: Sometimes I use red apples and 1/2 lime (juice whole)

BLUE | BLUE BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE
Kick start your day and your body with this amazing breakfast smoothie! Blue spirulina not only makes the prettiest coloured smoothie but it is also an absolute powerhouse of nutrients. Rich in vitamins, minerals, protein, carotenoids and also antioxidants which may help protect cells from damage. Spirulina is said to act like a magnet that draws toxins to it and then flushes them out of the body (I'm guessing much like activated charcoal does). It may also lower blood pressure and boosts the immune system. Hemp seeds are my latest obsession and I have them on avocado toast, in salads and smoothies - I love the nutty flavour that they have. Hemp seeds are known to be rich in healthy fats and essential fatty acids as well as being full of vitamins and minerals. Hemp seeds are also said to be great for healthy hair, skin and nails, help to reduce inflammation and, as well as spirulina, hemp is also known as a great source of plant-based (vegan-friendly) protein. Blend all the ingredients below in the 3X Bluicer™ Pro on the smoothie setting. Serves 1.

1 ripe banana or 1x frozen courgette
1 teaspoon blue spirulina powder*

1 cup milk of your choice or 1 cup of coconut water
1 tablespoon probiotic or protein yoghurt

1 tablespoon hemp seeds
A squeeze of lime juice (optional)

*Blue spirulina powder is quite hard to find in NZ. You can buy online HERE. I crushed my blue spirulina tables up for this smoothie, and the tablets I brought from Common Sense Organics. You may replace it with regular spirulina powder if you do not have the blue version.

PURPLE | MY KIDS FAVOURITE BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE
We have been making this smoothie recipe for years now, and my kids love it, especially as an after school snack. It is a great way of adding things like LSA and hemp seeds into their diet, and I also occasionally sneak a few other things in there too, like bee pollen. Blueberries are the main flavour profile in this smoothie and they are low in calories but high in nutrients and said to have a ton of antioxidants. Blueberries are also said to be great brain food. Blend all the ingredients below in the 3X Bluicer™ Pro on the smoothie setting. Serves 1.

1 ripe banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup milk of your choice
1 tablespoon yoghurt
1 tablespoon LSA

1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1 teaspoon bee pollen (optional)
